In what ways do we express or represent our sense of community or belonging (Whanaungatanga) at TAPS? In Term three 2015, we decided that we needed more seating in the courtyard and somewhere to store our chess pieces. At the beginning of Term three we started to dig out the existing garden beneath rooms 20 and 21 to make room for the seating. Mr Hopewell, Bob the builder and Munu came to help us make the seats. Once they have finished making it, they lowered it into the ground and it looks great! But we wanted the dirty ground covered so we discussed what to put there. Our original idea was to make mosaics but that didn't work out, so we decided to cover it with some old cobblestone that we found at the back of the school. Now we have to decide what will be painted onto the cobblestone. Below are some pictures of our progress.

HI Dani,
ReplyDeleteAre you going to design seats that the chess pieces are going to be stored in?? This sounds like an amazing idea.
We have garden tools and gumboots we could store in a seat too. I wonder if you could help us with this?
